Pensioner Visa (Pensionado) is a residence route in Panama (Eläkeläiset). Guaranteed lifetime pension ≥US$1,000/month (US$750 if owning Panama property >US$100k); +US$250/month per dependant. Savings/dividends do not qualify. Visit Panama at least once every 2 yrs. Gov fees ~US$3,000 for family of 3.

Requirements at a glance

You need an annual income of about CHF 9'600. There is no minimum stay to keep the permit. Spouse and children can usually be included. Permanent residence: after heti years. Citizenship can be possible after about 5 years.

Territorial tax: foreign pensions and foreign-source income untaxed; retiree discounts (Law 6).
