Family reunification (Familiennachzug)

Family reunification is a residence route in Switzerland (Familj). Spouses and minor children of Swiss/C-permit holders: entitlement; of B-holders: suitable housing, no social assistance, language registration (A1 spoken). Deadlines 5 yrs (children >12: 1 yr). C permit after 5 yrs marriage with Swiss/C holder. Gov fees ~CHF 300 (family of 3).

Resident from arrival day (pro-rata year); lump-sum (forfait) for non-Swiss without Swiss gainful work

Residence certificate: Cantonal TRC; lump-sum taxpayers need modified lump sum for some treaties (DE, AT, IT, BE, CA, NO, US)

Your previous country applies its own residence tests separately. If both countries treat you as resident, the applicable tax treaty may resolve treaty residence.
