No residence or work permit needed; must be self-supporting with housing & income (Governor can expel/refuse those without means; no welfare). Time on Svalbard does NOT count toward Norwegian PR/citizenship. Housing scarce.

There is no minimum stay to keep the permit. Spouse and children can usually be included.
